Se planteaba no como un taller al uso, sino una convivencia donde todos somos iguales, donde todos compartimos absolutamente todo, donde todos aprendemos unos de otros, tutelados siempre por el maestro invitado para cada ocasión. Hicimos sesiones pensando en una boda, en una postboda e incluso en una preboda, por eso veréis fotografías no sólo con vestidos de novia, sino también con ropa de calle.

Este año, el lugar elegido fue Lisboa, preciosa ciudad llena de contrastes que nos aportó muchísimo tanto fotográfica como humanamente, Y el fotógrafo que nos honró con su presencia (en este caso fotógrafa y fotógrafo, vinieron dos) fue Virginia Gimeno y su marido Nano, poseedores de numerosos premios tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, siendo unos de los fotógrafos de bodas españoles más reconocidos fuera de nuestras fronteras.

Sabíamos que nos aportarían mucho a nuestros conocimientos, a nuestra manera de trabajar… Eso lo tuvimos claro desde el principio, ya que sabíamos de su calidad. Pero nos sorprendieron (si es que se puede decir así) con su grandísima calidad humana. Parecía como si nos conociésemos de hace tiempo. Siempre alegres, siempre con una sonrisa en la boca, siempre riendo, siempre optimistas… Vamos, que además de enseñarnos sus conocimientos, nos enseñaron su manera de entender la fotografía, y la vida.

Personalmente tengo mucho que agradecerles. Me aconsejaron, me apoyaron, me animaron y creyeron en mi. Saqué muchas conclusiones en claro, y todo gracias a ellos. Gracias, Virginia. Gracias, Nano. Espero que pronto veáis los resultados de todo esto…

Y, como no podía ser de otra manera, tengo mucho, muchísimo que agradecer también a los tres locos restantes, Jay C (Javi Collazo), el Wild (Dani Dávila) y “el chico del vídeo”, Nacho. Gracias por su apoyo, por su ayuda, por su compañía, por su amistad… Nunca me cansaré de repetir lo agradecido que tengo que estarle a esta profesión por haber puesto en mi camino a personas tan increíbles como éstas… Y un gracias también muy especial a los dos compañeros, y AMIGOS, que compartieron esta edición 2013 con nosotros. Mi querido amigo Xoel, a quien tengo que agradecer además la logística y toda la compañía que me hizo. Es una persona generosa como pocas, y que lo da todo por sus amigos, por eso me siento afortunado por tenerlo como tal. Gracias por estar siempre ahí, para todo. Y gracias también a Noémie, por aportar su lado femenino a todo, por hacernos disfrutar con su sonrisa, con su alegría, por hacer las veces de modelo y aguantarnos a todos, y por su amistad, la cual valoro mucho. Gracias, Noe. Ya lo sabes…

Tampoco quiero dejar de agradecer a Judie, nuestra modelo, su participación de nuevo en esta edición 2013, habiendo participado ya en la del año pasado. Gracias por agunatarnos, por no decir nunca que no y por estar siempre dispuesta a todo con una sonrisa en la boca. Gracias también a los modelos portugueses que colaboraron con nosotros y, cómo no, a Mónica de Just One Fit y Something Old, por traernos esos vestidos de novia vintage, alguno de ellos hecho en 1912, y otros de los años 20, 30, 50… Todo un lujazo poder contar con vestidos así… Mil gracias!!

Y por último, no quiero olvidarme de alguien que, a pesar de no haber ido, ha estado siempre muy presente. Alguien que día a día me animaba desde la distancia, pero que sentía tan cerca… Alguien que entiende lo que hago, que cree en mi desde el principio y que es el principio y el fin de todo lo que hago… Alguien a quien siempre toca sufrir mis ausencias, pero que es la primera persona que me recibe para darme ese abrazo, ese beso que tan necesario es después de tantos días… Esa persona que me apoya incondicionalmente para verme crecer… Esa persona que siempre está ahí, aunque no se vea… Gracias, María… Todo esto va por y para ti… Te quiero mucho…

Con ellos todo fue muy sencillo. Estuvieron siempre riéndose, siempre con una sonrisa en la boca, y esa es la mejor actitud para estas cosas. Ver a una pareja enamorada, y además, feliz, es lo más que se puede pedir.

Os deseo que siempre seáis tan felices como ahora. Os lo merecéis.

The Rocío and Kike engagement session was the first we did in Asturias. Until then, we had never worked in that area of the country, and now that we’ve been working out there, we hope to return many more times, because its people and beautiful landscapes are well worth it.

With them it was all very simple. They were always laughing, always with a smile on his face, and that’s the best attitude to these things. Seeing a couple in love, and also happy, is what more you could ask for.

Sandra y Hugo habían confiado en mi hace ya mucho tiempo, y espero habérselo agradecido, en parte, con este trabajo, ya que después de la boda, aún nos faltará por hacer la postboda…

Por eso, aquí tenéis, chicos. Espero que disfrutéis tanto viéndolas como yo haciéndolas y deciros que aún nos queda lo mejor…

Our destination this time was a beautiful paradise called Verdes, Coristanco. Sandra and Hugo wanted to make their engagement session in a place where they were surrounded by nature, so we went there. And they took their precious son, Alex, to which all enjoyed watching his adventures.

Sandra and Hugo had trusted me long ago, so I put all my heart on this job to thank them.

So, here is the results, guys. I hope you enjoy seeing them as I make them both and tell you that we still have the best …

I started writing the text of this post about five or six times, and always ended up deleting … It was so special what we feel with this couple that still, to this day, I can not explain … I can only say one thing, they´re soulmates. They´re in love, and it shows. And that is their secret, how they loving …

Tras levantarme a las 06:30 de la mañana, llegué a Valladolid poco después de las 10, donde me esperaban Eva Mansilla (artífice de toda esta historia y a quién debo agradecer inmensamente el haberme dado esta oportunidad), Txarly, quien se encargó del making of y de todo lo que fuese necesario, incluso de mojarse para obtener buenos planos con la cámara de vídeo, Patri, que fue la encargada de maquillaje y atrezzo y, cómo no, Stef (Estefanía), la verdadera protagonista de todo esto. Posteriormente se nos unieron mi querido amigo y compañero Nacho, excelente videógrafo, creador y contador de historias, encargado de hacer el videoclip de esta locura y Josetxu, quien junto a Eva forman un dúo de lujo con su trabajo.

Después de planificar cómo lo íbamos a hacer, nos pusimos en marcha y empezamos la sesión en unos trigales que estaban preciosos, pero de los que no traigo muy buen recuerdo, ya que en la semana siguiente, cada día me aparecían espigas en los sitios más insospechados… De la tierra, al agua. Al lado del trigal había un riachuelo desde donde Stef hizo la proeza de tirarse desde el puente, sumergiéndose en sus aguas. ¡¡Qué valor!!

De ahí nos fuimos a la casa de turismo rural “La Seca, cuna del Rueda“, donde el gran Vidal nos obsequió con un vino magnífico y donde estuvimos grabando algunos planos para el videoclip final, además de poder contemplar la máquina de la que dispondríamos al día siguiente para nuestra traca final… Gracias desde aquí, Vidal, por toda tu amabilidad y tu disposición para colaborar.

Nos acostamos agotados a las 02:00 de la mañana, y a las 04:30 ya estábamos de pié, para poner rumbo a la tercera localización y poder empezar a trabajar con las luces que nos obsequió un precioso amanecer castellano. Utilizamos unas bonitas ruinas de un caserón abandonado y una preciosa Harley-Davidson que Vidal nos cedió muy amablemente para nuestro trabajo. Mil gracias!!

Y la traca final. El simbolismo en su máxima expresión. Nada mejor que quemar el pasado, consumir los malos recuerdos y hacerlos cenizas para que el viento de la nueva vida los esparza por donde le apetezca. Mientras tanto, rumbo a toda velocidad hacia un futuro mejor. ¡¡Mucha suerte, Stef!!

All stemmed from the idea of a TTD session (Trash The Dress) with Stephanie, a brave woman. She wanted to leave certain stages of their life back, free of ties and start a new way of living. Why not burn the dress to symbolize all that? In the time that question came up, our eyes lit up. Go for it!

After getting up at 06:30 am, I arrived at Valladolid shortly after 10 am, where I expected Eva Mansilla (creator of this whole story and who I thank immensely for giving me this opportunity), Txarly, who was in charge of making of and everything necessary, even for good wetting planes with video camera, Patri, who was in charge of makeup and props and, of course, Stef (Stephanie), the real protagonist of this. Later we were joined by my dear friend and colleague Nacho, excellent videographer, creator and storyteller, responsible for making the video for this madness and Josetxu, who together form a duo Eva luxury with their work.

After planning how we did it, we got up and started the session in some wheat fields were beautiful, but which do not bring good memories, because in the next week, every day I spikes appeared in the most unexpected … From land to the water. Next to the cornfield was a creek where Stef made the feat of jumping from the bridge, plunging into its waters. What value!

From there we went to the farmhouse “La Seca, birthplace of the wheel” where the great Vidal gave us a magnificent wine and where we were shooting some shots for the video end, besides being able to see the machine that we would have the next day to our grand finale … Thank you from here, Vidal, for all your kindness and your willingness to collaborate.

We went to bed exhausted at 02:00 am and at 04:30 we were standing, to head for the third location and to start working with lights that gave us a beautiful sunrise Castilian. We use a beautiful ruins of an abandoned mansion and a beautiful Harley-Davidson Vidal kindly lent us for our work. Thanks!

And the grand finale. The symbolism at its finest. Nothing better to burn the past, eating the bad memories and make ashes to the wind of the spread of new life whenever you want. Meanwhile, heading full speed toward a better future. Good luck, Stef!

Ella es nacida en Londres, aunque de madre gallega, y él, portugués, aunque también lleva mucho tiempo viviendo en Londres. Tuvimos la suerte de que nos acompañasen también sus peques, en lo que fue una preciosa tarde en familia, donde nos reímos mucho y disfrutamos de los juegos de los más pequeños.

Ojalá hubiésemos tenido más tiempo, para recorrer más sitios de esa preciosa ciudad y habernos traído más fotografías… Lo que sí nos hemos traído han sido dos buenos amigos como Nuno y Susana y todos los recuerdos que gracias a ellos guardamos en nuestra memoria.

Gracias por haber sido unos magníficos guías y por toda vuestra ayuda y colaboración. ¡¡Nos vemos en breve en la boda!!

Y gracias también, cómo no, a Lucía, nuestra anfitriona, con la que nos hemos sentido muy cómodos y que nos ha tratado como si estuviésemos en nuestra propia casa. Gracias por todo!!

It was our first international experience. We don’t only photograph weddings in our country, but now, thanks to Nuno and Sue, have made the leap with our first engagement session outside Spain, in London.

She was born in London, although Galician mother, and he, Portuguese, although it takes a long time living in London. We were lucky that we also accompany their kids, in what was a beautiful afternoon with the family, where we laughed a lot and enjoyed the games of children.

I wish we had had more time to explore more sites of this beautiful city and bringing us more pictures … What do we have brought two good friends like Nuno and Sue and all the memories thanks to them we keep in our memory.

“¿Javi? Mira, nuestro fotógrafo no hace prebodas, y como nos han gustado mucho las fotos de Vanesa y Manu, ¿podrías hacernos tú la preboda?” ¡¡Encantado!!

Es una satisfacción que la gente te busque porque les gusta tu trabajo, porque aprecian tu fotografía y porque valoran cómo trabajas. Para mi ha sido un honor y una satisfacción que, a pesar de tener su boda contratada con anterioridad con otro compañero, me hayan llamado a mi al ver mi trabajo para que fuese yo quien les hiciese su preboda.

A pesar de los nervios iniciales, y de un viento muy juguetón que no paraba de alborotarnos el pelo, fue una tarde maravillosa llena de amor, de buenas fotos y de risas, muchas risas. Y no hay nada que satisfaga más que irte para casa con un buen trabajo después de haber disfrutado tanto.

Desde aquí, muchas gracias, Ana y Manu, por haber confiado en mi y en mi trabajo. Os deseo de corazón lo mejor para el día de vuestra boda. ¡¡Muchas felicidades!!

The e-session with Anna and Manu is the kind that everyone likes to do. They´ll get married in August, and already had her wedding contract with another photographer when I met while making the wedding of her friends Vanessa and Manuel (whose e-session can see also in the blog). They saw the photos of Vanessa and Manu, and the book of signatures I made with them, and they called me.

“Javi? Look, our photographer doesn’t make e-sessions, and as we have really enjoyed the photos of Vanessa and Manu, would you make us the e-session?” Nice!

It is a pleasure that people find you because they like your work, because they appreciate your photography and how you work because they value. For me it was an honor and a pleasure that, despite having previously hired her wedding with another partner, they have called me.

Despite initial nerves, and a very playful wind, it was a wonderful evening filled with love good photos and lots of laughter. And there’s nothing more satisfying to leave for home with a good job after having enjoyed so much.

El lugar elegido fue Ares y su playa, un lugar que siempre será especial para ellos porque fue donde todo surgió, un verano donde él estaba trabajando de socorrista. Por eso, los recuerdos volvieron a aflorar, y con ellos los sentimientos, la complicidad, las miradas de enamorados…

Fue todo un placer compartir su historia y, de alguna manera, pasar a formar parte también de ella. Momentos de alegría y de risas, y otros más íntimos, más personales, acompañados los unos y los otros por los rayos del sol, y por unas gotas de lluvia que, lejos de estropearnos la sesión, se unieron tímidamente a su complicidad para regalarnos unas preciosas imágenes de lo que es un beso bajo la lluvia.

Muchas gracias por todo, chicos. Desde entonces, un pedacito de nosotros se ha quedado también allá donde todo nació. Y es un honor. Nos vemos en la boda!!!
